Da Vinci Code

I got a comment today from one Ann Marie regarding the quest at davincicode.com. I couldn't answer her at first, as I was completetely unaware that there even was a quest. I quickly took up the challenge and went to check it out. You should too. Then we can talk about it. I made it all the way through to the end, only using the hint button once and looking up the middle of chapter 44 info as I have since given my copy of the book away. Let me know how you make out.

Has anyone else discovered that the publishers hid a code on the dust jacket endpapers? I noticed some letters were printed bolder than others. I wrote it down but still have no idea what it means. Anybody . . ?

Yes, I noticed the bold letters. I don't read the dust jacket till after I finish a book, and let's just say my profession helped me notice the bold letters. I saw a few and thought that was odd, but given the book, I thought this might be a code.

What words did u come up with? I think I got all the letters/words, but I'm just curious if we match.

I'll say more about my interpretation after you say what words you got. I don't want to say my interpretation and then find out I wrote the wrong letters down.

I'm glad you noticed this. I just finished the book tonight, and then noticed the bold letters. My housemate hadn't noticed the bold letters.

on one part of the jacket i got THERE NO HELP FOR THE. i am trying to get back into the davincicode.com but am unable to. can anyone help

the da vinci dust jacket says this:

IS THERE NO HELP FOR THE WIDOWS SON

for anyone who is interested. Apparently, jesus was "married" to mary magdalane ( i think i spelled her name correctly) anyway, the story is, she fled when jesus was crucified and she was carrying a baby. See what you can make of that!

Does anyone know what the name of the brotherhood was that this phrase was based upon: Is there no help for the widows son? Please let me know.

The brotherhood he's referring to is Mason.
Good luck solving the riddle, everybody.

Thank goodness for Google-ing...I didn't know where to look for a mention of this little cover message ;) Hooray I'm not going mad; they really ARE bold letters...

hey city girl u trying to solve the riddles too
for every one else there is a site for davinci code code cracking its fun if you have about an hour and a half or so of free time
the sight url is http://www.randomhouse.com/doubleday/davinci/

Hey everyone, thanks for your comments! I've gone through and cleaned up many of the duplicate entries. Please be patient when making a new comment. The screen doesn't always refresh after you hit submit, but that doesn't always mean I haven't gotten your comment! Go back to the comment page and hold the shift key and click the reload button on your browser, your comment should appear.

Thanks again!

I know that the quest is for fun, but I was just wondering just HOW to get aroun to solving the first riddle. I searched and searched, but there is no statue at thoes points

If you look carefully, there is a decimal point between the 6 and the 5, so it's 6.5, not 65.

I also couldn't find those points, but I still managed to find the answer to that question...

thank you so much we got the first four but couldn't get the last one.

What is the phrase around the seal? With Julius Caesar's help?

u work on maxwell? jfournier? if you do look me up in the global under dennis

I too would love to know if anyone has figured out the phrase around the seal, i spent like 2 hours trying to figure it out and i have no clue!!!
hilary

"phrase around the seal" is what I'm stuck on... for the past hour. My guess is something to do with the one dollare bill. Triangle (pyramid) and Ceasar... who nows. Any help out there?

Paul

The phrase around the seal is referring to E Pluribus Unum. I don't know how I got it, it was my first guess and it was right. But I hope I was able to help. Have fun with the rest.

is the answer to the first riddle Kryptos? I hope I didn't spoil it for anyone.

you know, i tried that, but i guess i spelled it wrong...that was my second guess agter e tu brutis...figures
hilary
ps thanks!!!

I don't have my book with me -- what's the 10 digit number in the middle of chapter 44?!

Here is the 10 digit number.
Marie Denarnaud #1 1 2 3 5 8 13 21

Email me if you need more. (just remove the dots)

Just curious. How long did it take for everyone to solve everything. It took me about 2 hours and dang was it fun! I'm going through the rest of his quests on his other web sites.

has anyone tried the web quest? First question was easy, Da Vinci's given name, but the next question has had me stumped for over an hour now. "uyo kese a smafuo rocsef ni lina m" !!!
Help!

Hey... This thing is sooo coool... ive been on it for about 2 hours now and im kinda stumped... u guys talked about the thing around the seal being E plurbis unum... but is that not latin... i thought it said greek... its right... but sorta confusing

what are the initials for number #2?

How do you get to the other Challenge...the one that asks for Da Vinci's given name? i found it earlier, but now can't!

Is there anyone out there who can help me with question #IV(4). The question is
"For which anchent brotherhood (still active today)does this does this phrase have special meaning?"
I think they mean "Is there help for the widows son" when they say phrase.

Amanda thanks for helping with #5. U think U can help with #4. thanks again :)
;)

what is the place for the coordinates?? i can't find anything and when i typed them in i found a place in Virginia but no statue...

has anyone done the ceasars box? i have rearranged the letters in sequences of five, but i cant figure out what it means....

this clue is one of the other puzzles from the site

I too am having difficulty locating the answer
to the clue to the ceasar box? Did anyone get the answer?

group the letters into 5s. i.e. ABCDEFGHIJ...

ABCDE
FGHIJ
...

then you will read from top left starting with the wwwd...

i did group them but how do you read it?

I am on gate #1 on the original TDC website. Am I stupid? Is this old english? How do I translate it?

Ok Stargrl. I have been looking at this box all day. Still nothing.
WTRGO
WRTDT
WOLOC
DBANO
OENDM
Am I to read down and across or left to right?

Jenn for the gate one question I went to:http://www.kypros.org/cgi-bin/lexicon/ and copy and pasted each line to read the message. There may be an easier way but this is the method I used and it worked.

www.robertlangdon.com
(read left down the first column...up to 2nd column and then down again....and you will read
"www.robertlangdon.com
GO GIRL
John

I am stuck on the game at the coordinates, like the first question! What is the statue?

after you find where the parchment is at the relic-bay website, then what? i dont understand how to move on from there. Does anybody know?

Kim- click on the ad for the bank at the bottom right of the page... act as though you're marie and type in your name as well as the above mentioned numbers for your account. Good luck, have fun.
Any word yet on those initials that are supposed to be hidden on the cover of the person who knows the answer to Kryptos?
Please and thanks.

After you find the parchemnt on Relic-Bay, you have to click on one of the ads on the bottom of the page. The buyer(Marie Denarnaud) tells you which one in her "buyer's comments".

OK I have a question of my own:

I am almost positive I have to sign on to the employee message board (I won't mention which website as a spoiler). However, I'm stuck here (for he moment). Do I sign on as the obvious character and where do I find the password?

Never mind, I figured it out.

What is the answer to number three, in exchange i can help someone all i need is numbers 1 and 2 then im done please help!

The answer to the statue at 37 degrees 57' 6.5"N and 77 degrees 8'44" W is KRYPTOS

If you are solving the book jacket riddles, the one found between "the dolphin and an anchor (but not a sea) and a triangle on a field of white" is so obvious once you've figured it out,,, and absolute hell when trying to make it work. THe answer: E Pluribus Unum"

Once you get the message to marie about her safe deposit box... where do you go from there?

"There is no help for the widow's son" is a phrase, changed slightly, from Masonic ritual. The comment "Is there no help for the widow's son" comes from part of the initiation ritual. I believe it is also used as a covert plea for help from other Masons who may hear. The widow's son is Hiram, architect of King Solomon's Temple. In the Bible he finishes the temple and goes home. In Masonic rituals he is murdered by robber-workmen, buried by them, rediscovered under an Acacia branch. This sequence is heavy with symbolism understood only by Master Masons. The Masons are charitable and benefactors of the needy in many branches of the organizations. Because of their ability to keep a secret and their ancient roots they are often the subject of fantastic and not-so-flattering speculation. I've read some books that link them rather convincingly with the Knights Templar, for whom secrecy meant life or death.

whats the account number of the buyer?

look in the middle of chapter 44

I've been doing the original web quest and am stuck on the second question. I think I have it translated but still can't find the answer. It is either "you seek a famous forces in malin" or "you seek a famous forces in milna". Can anyone help me with this one?

I have the same question as Noodle but I still can't figure it out.

I am almost positive I have to sign on to the employee message board (I won't mention which website as a spoiler). However, I'm stuck here (for he moment). Do I sign on as the obvious character and where do I find the password?

Not forces in Milan, a Fresco in Milan.

The brotherhood name is "Freemasons"

have all the answers... solved both quests in less than 1hr... very simple once you open your eyes. happy to help if you get stumped

where do you type the answer for the question
with the julius ceasar code?

Hello I'm spanish, I passed the quiz at www.davincicode.com and now I'm stuck at the other. I'm at Zurich bank, I got the name and the number, i got the bezu fache message and I dunno how to continue, I mean do I have to call to this phone number???

What type of cross is that on Robert Langdon's homepage, with the open loop on top? It looks familiar, but I can't find it, and I know that it's a password for one of the accounts.

PoLUX, you have to call the number and it gives you some more information.

I have the same question that someone else asked... do i have to call the number provided in bezu fache's letter? What if you don't live in the states?

Anyway I tried a search for doubleknight publishing. nothing turned up. help!

Hey Castor, nice nickname! ;P
Gonna try calling the phone number, I have no cash on my mobile so if it's free maybe... I'll post about it then.

No way, I have no US prefixe so it says the "phone number doesn't exist".
Pleez someone may give me a link to continue? I have no way to do it in any other way. =(

I have the same question as Bill. Can't figure out robert's favorite symbol. It's probably obvious, but just like the milk in the fridge, I can't find it. Help...

Okay - here are some hints:
The Ceaser's box answer is www.robertlangdon.com

This site has the Marie Dernarnaud account no.

Yes, you have to call the phone number, but it's just an automated voice mail.

Any help on logging on as Jonas Faukman? I'm really stumped

The intials are 'WW'

I. Kryptos

II. WW

III.IS THERE NO HELP FOR THE WIDOWS SON

IV. Mason

V. E Pluribus Unum

Go to Paris

wow what a great book and fun riddle to solve! dont get frustrated, you will get it with time!

enjoy-kcvolley6

Langdon's favorite symbol is the ankh. (It's on his web page banner). Jonas Faukman will give you his password (or the clue to it) if you e-mail him.

I am stuck on the second to last gate on the challenge, i finished the other one, but could someone help me out?

Where in the world do i type www.robertlandgon.com?

Please help me...

R :-)

i dont live in the states, so i cant call the number where "someone special has left me a secret message".... can someone please just tell me what it says? it seems so dissapointing to no be able to finish the thing properly (even though it was otherwise really fun)....

thanks!

If you don't live in the US and you can't call Jonas, here's a "shortcut" -> go to WWW.DOUBLEKNIGHTBOOKS.COM

Hi,

You can contact Jonas via his email address of jfaukman@doubleknightbooks.com, if you choose not to contact him via phone.

you will then receive an reply from Jonas. Follow the instructions and you will decipher the code.

Dan Brown is a genius!

please tell me where to write the answer on gate 2. i know what the answer is. i sent robert langdon and email and he sent back that he was in florence and there are 2 auction websites.

Gena,

Visit both auction websites. Type the initals of da Vinci (as sighted on the bottom of the parchment) and on one of the sites, you will find the comments of both the seller and the buyer of the parchment.
Consider details provided by these comments and this should lead you to where you will need to type in your next answer.

I hope this helps!

I'm working on the quest, i emailed jonas faukman, but i can't figure out his password on doubleknightbooks.com; he gave this clue: the name of the city where he and robert had their picture taken recently...??

you will find the answer to the name of the city @www.Robertlangdon.com. Lets just say its a city known for its gondolas.

OMG This was sooo much fun! Thanks for the tips that really helped me out when I was stumped!

Did anyone call for the special message after solving the code? What did it say?

Did anyone call for the message after solving the Prophecy?

That was so much fun! I just solved both web quests and now I can't wait for Dan Brown's next book.

I'm at the part where I have to decipher the parchment but I did and it says it is incorrect.
I got: "The truth will be told in 2003"
What about everyone else?
-Jen

I am 16 years old, and I received the Da Vinci Code for Christmas. I finished the book in 2 days, and I love it. I have been trying to solve some of these riddles on the Da Vinci Code Website, but they're a little hard. I was just wondering, what are these "bolder" letters you guys are talking about that are found on the back of the book? I have been searching and searching, and yet, I cannot find them. Any help for the little kid here? :-p

jennifer:
The profecy is that... the truth will be told in 2003. Try again

This is alot of fun. My mother and I are working on this together... now we are doing the original da vinci code thing... we are just waiting for the email from Robert Langdon..

Is he a real guy or made up?

this email from this imaginary guy is taking too long... when do I get to call a number? :-p

what do you do when you solve the prophecy? where do you place the information?

I've tried the Gate 1 hint to cut and paste the ancient text into my word processor but that doesn't work. I've also tried copying words one at a time into the Google translator URL that someone suggested above. That didn't work either. Any other suggestions? Please, please tell me what the text says...I'm going nuts.

hey- just try copyin the text into an IM window...it converts it automatically usualy...it just says that you want to find what the 3rd hall is called where the mona lisa is housed. There's Sully...Richelieu...and _______ I wont give it away for u :)

To Ash: IM window ???? Where do I find one of those? And I thought I was pretty computer saavy. Not!

"IM" would be "instant message" I do believe. But I have different comment. So you know how the book and website mention the oddity or the supposed disembodied hand holding the knife in DaVinci's the Last Supper? Take a good look, if we assume Magdelane is on the left of Jesus (as you face the painting), the way she is leaning could easily make that her hand holding the knife. If so, then it appears to be threatening the apostle with his hands/arms raised as if in defense (the 3 from Mary). I looked up a listing of the assumed identities of the apostles, Mary is named as 'John"...so if you skip her and move around that makes the guy with his hands up either Judas or Peter. Just an intersting bit to think on. Let me know what you think.

I have a question for anyone who would be glad to help! What are the initials of the person who "knows the exact location"? I need sum serious help! If you have AOL or AIM my s/n is LvnJesus247 PLEEEZ HELP!!!

The two initials were a little hard to find, but I found them. If you have aol, just type Kryptos in the search box, and when all the web sites come up, go to the one that is Welcome to Kryptos. It's not a CIA site. Go to lots of info on Kryptos and then to solution. It's there. Just read. I can't just tell you the answer, it wouldn't be interesting. You'll be amazed at Kryptos and it's history. Good luck!

I made it to the Robert Langdon website, but how do I move on? All the screen says is "he will respond in minutes if you ask" How do I ask? Please help!

Chiming in with ihk, I also got up to the point where I am asked to listen to a private message from a special person, on a number starting with 1-212-782. Could anyone help me here, as I am not located in the US?

WOOP solved the first webquest in 20 minutes. Rock on. I finished the book in Five days. it was fascinating...amazing even

if you call the number, dan brown just congratulates you for breaking the code and he also says that he's working on the next robert langdon novel.

okay now i'm stuck, how do i questions@robertlangdon.com?? i'm lost!! thanx, anybody...

just send him an email... he will answer in minutes

The name of the brotherhood you are asking about is The Masons

how on earth do you figure out what the prophecy is???

www.doubleknightbooks.com has expired. Now what?

The www.doubleknightbooks.com now forwards to:

http://www.randomhouse.com/cgi-bin/robertlangdon/dkb.cgi/

What do I do after I figured out the prophecy, I am sooo confused.

I am stuck trying to figure out "uyo kese a smafuo rocsef ni lina M " Anyone know what to put?

this game or quest it was good!!!! this guy is gonna make a lot money selling his books!! he is good at it!!finally a new thing..

That was funny!! I´ve done with both quest. Was hard sometimes ´cause my english is not as good as i´d like but´was really funny anyway. I´m just sad i couldn´t listen the voice messages ´cause I´m from Spain and a international call is more than i can afford. :) Keep having fun

Great puzzle---took me a little under an hour. I didn't want it to end. I'd be happy to help anyone having problems. milescortez@earthlink.net

what is jonas's password@?!!?!?!?

I'm trying the original code and I cannot seem to find the message board to contact Jonas Faukman. Can anyone help- I don't want to have to give up now! Thanks!

the webquests were great and i finished the old one in just around 20 mins. The new one however i needed help with the coordinates because i could not read them from the magnification of the book. I have never seen the DaVinci code book but i will buy it immediately
hope u all have fun with the quests and the book

Hey! I just finished both codes. I got The Da Vinci Code for Christmas, and I finished it in one day. I'm 16, and I want to be an egyptologist, so this book and the codes were awesome for me! Anyone with questinos, fell free jblair50@yahoo.com AIM: trialgirl03 ICQ: 254585431

Email me for a clue or more on Jonas' p-word.

Robert Langdon was supposed to e-mail me back in minutes ... that was almost two hours ago. Can anyone tell me what info he supposedly sends? Thanks!

ok i cant figure out da vinci's given name. Can anyone please tell me, it's driving me crazy.

Da Vinci's given name is Leonardo!!
What is the answer to the question about the Fresco Milan? I can't figure it out!

the fresco he is talking about in milan is "the last supper"

I GOT ALL OF THE LETTERS FROM THE CORRESPONDING CHAPTER NUMBERS, BUT IT IS IN NO SPECIAL SEQUENCE. CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME HOW U GET "E PLURIBUS UNUM" OUT OF THAT? DO YOU JUST HAVE TO UNSCRAMBLE THE LETTERS TO MAKE THIS PHRASE OR IS THERE ANOTHER WAY? PLEASE HELP!!!!

does anybody know anything about the code on gate one?

I don't understand all of the controversy over the "last supper" painting. Everyone seems to make a big deal about the hand with the knife... "who's hand is it", "what's it doing there", "was one of the apostles a crazed murdurer?"

The fact is, it's obvious the knife is in the hand of the apostle wearing the blue toga, how did I determine this? By looking at the goddamn picture... the hand has blue cloth on it, and everyone else's hands are accounted for except for that one guy who's hand is behind his back with the knife in it.

It's obviously either peter (who at one point used a knife to cut a soldier's ear off) or judas who WAS the man who fatally betrayed jesus. Da Vinci wouldn't be the first guy to use symbolism in a work of art.

(Pardon the pun considering this is a religious discussion) but I am playing devil's advocate here considering I am an anti-christ (admittedly)

The email from langdon never came. How do I continue on first da vinci quest? thanks

What a bunch of fun! I need the final answer to break the code and type the prophecy. Can anyone help me?

I need help with the 3rd question (gate #1) on the original quest- a riddle in ancient symbols- I have no idea what to do- can someone please help me- its driving me nuts!!!

Ok, I am stuck on Gate #2, original quest. WHERE DO I TYPE IN the text???

how do you figure out the prophecy? Cant figure out how to read parchment.....

NEVER MIND! figured it out!!

Please help - Where do I type in the text for the Caesar's Box in Gate #2? I tried the address bar on the browser, but that just takes me to his site - I can't figure out what to do next, so perhaps I need to type it in somewhere else???

This may sound really dumb, but on the original quest, I just deciphered the parchement, and heard the message. I think I'm done, but is there more to do on gate 2 once you decipher the parchment? Is there a gate 3,4,5??

Im at the point after you do to relic-bay and give pasword and log in number. Im at the point where it gives me a phone number to call. I call and nothing happened. WHERE do I go from here, do I actully need to hear the message, and am I missing something. Please help I've been working on this for a long time.

don't worry about typing answer in on gate 2. read the clue again, then just proceed contacting robert langdon.

Any idea if there are more quests like this available??? Somewhere on the net??? Because they are cool!!! Somebody should make a very long one!!

What do I do after I've seen the message from the police (in Marie's bank)? How do I get past that?

Hey all! i just started this webquest thing and i'm stuck. i emailed robert langdon and he sent me this automated response. then something about relic-bay. what do i do next??!!!?? please help. i like practically can't sleep cuz of this. its so much fun but i need to get thru it. The DaVinci Code is one of the best books i've ever read: wow! it's so complex and intricate and yet fun to read. I need to read Brown's other works. thanks a lot.

hey. i need a little bit of help on the new divinci code i need coorindates and deegres im so tired and lost some one please help me out

What is robert langdons favorite symbol?

I'm in the middle of reading the book and playing the game, it's great. The bit about Langdon's favorite symbol stumped me for a while too, i had seen it before many times but didn't know the name, it was quite satisfying to finally get it. i won't give it away here though :-). I'll give you a hint though, search google for pagan symbolism.

I really like this type of game, it isn't really that complicated(to make that is), but it sends players on a long, rewarding chase. I'd be very interested in making something like this with a good storyline and deep plot.

after you're in the swiss bank...and you're referred to doubleknight publishing what then ????? there's nothing but a bunch of german with no translator ???? HELP

When I figured 'Is there no help for the widow's son', I thought of Mary Magdalene and her supposed son, but also Jacques Sauniere's & Marie's (notice variation of 'Mary' again) son who would be the one to protect the secret and has no seyechaux (whatever that word was, the other "grand masters" of the Priory, who were killed along with Jacques) left to help him, according to the story. Which of course leads nicely into the sequel.

Does anyone know the secret code on the back that is a circle w/ numbers and triangles with eyes?

i cant figure out the phrophecy for the origional challenge.

help

haha ooh im an idiot nevermind

Guys and Gals,
Is this "Phone number" you call toll free? I need to know please i don't want to give up now!
Please answer me... nobody did before. PLease help!

What the hell guys, you don't need to read the book to finish the quest...If your stuck on "The code created by the one Brutus killed", figure out who the hell is Brutus, then type his name and his code ie "whoever he is"'s code on google. It'll tell you how to read the code. To avoid tele no., just find those websites on google. For those 'make believe sites' just click on those where you can click. simple enough. For bank accounts, name first, then come here for those authorization codes. Of course, this is for those who have not read the book, like me.

Hey again,
anyone feel like answering me sometime soon? I really dont want to stop but i'm not sure if i should call the number because i dont want to spend a million dollars! PLEASE ANSWER ME!!!!

thank you

Seriously stuck on the prochecy, can't catch some zzzz's until I know! Can someone help?

Superk2,
The prochecy if very simple if you look at the key. Now you have to remeber to look at the boxes, half bowes, and quarter boxes the dots are in. Compare the key chart to The Prochecy and you'll do great!

How do I go to gate 3?

did anyone else get an email from questions@robertlangdon.com that read "here, the serials" I dont know what to make of it.

How stupid am I?? I cant figure out the first Gate. PLEASE someone help me.....

Andrea-- E Pluribus Unum

Only because this took me a bit to figure out, here's the answer to Q5 on the new Da Vinci code quest.
If you start with the number 20, and go clockwise, keeping those triangle eyes as part of the order, then using the Caesar code, you get:

EUUN
^RSU
PI^M
LBU^ ^denotes the triangle eyes

Now you can get E Pluribus Unum right?

What are the answers for gates # 1 and #3 no idea, driving me crazy

its easy go to danbrown.com go to the da vinci code link go to challenge and theres the webquest, the fisrt question is the mona lisa then its paris and then priory of sion.finally u made it to the 5 codes

#2 is ww
#3 is is there no help for the widows son

#5 is e pluribus unum its also on the dollar bill where the eagle's head is
then click the left eye after all the writeing

try the orginal webquest
its hard

hi people! I'm from Paraguay (down in south america) and read The DaVinci Code and loved it! but I got stuck at the Bank with the publisher's number and francly don't know what to do... I can't just call to that number because it's going to cost me a fortune... please help me! :D

ok call the number and he says go to doubleknightbooks.com then theres his email address write to him and he will respond, he talk of the pasword its in robertlangdon.com where the picture is of them two

read the whole forum and the pasword is there

I am stuck in doubleknights.com but cannot find how to contact jonas, any idea?

What is the code that is on Chapter 44. I don't have the book with me and I need the code. Some one please help!!!!!!!

im from argentina i read the book and i love it. i solved all quest very wuick and there were exelente anyone who need help write me to my mail o just ask by msn : vw_andres@hotmail.com

To Resh: The code in chapter 44 is the string of numbers that Saunier
wrote on the floor. The Fibonacci sequence. Except as an account number,
you have to type them in order 1123581321, with the last two actually
being 13 and 21. Page 189

When did Langdon open the second cryptex? We only know that he did
because it drops to the floor and Teabing says that he opened it? Was it
when Langdon turned toward the window and faced away from Sophie and
Teabing?

And why is the hidden message about the widow's son there? What does it
have to do with the story?

to eduardo: I think you need the pasword venice for Jonas. The other day
I typed

Jonas Kaufman pasword

into google and up came venice. i don't why that is but it worked.
Also, I only put one s in pasword because the computer thought I was
typing something offensive with two s's after an a.

This is seriously the best book I've ever read...taking place over Catch 22. The web quests were very good as well. If anyone needs any help figuring out the quests I can help you. I've figured them both out. I can already see Hollywood making this into a movie.

The reason why Venice worked is because on Robert Langdon's website there is a picture of the two people with masks on, and the subtext says it's both Robert and Jonas in Venice.

muchas gracias steve

can somebody tell me what is said on the last phone message... again it will cost me 2 much... thanks!

Paraguayan: The message is by Dan Brown, basically saying that he is working hard on the next Robert Langdon book.

This was a fantastic way to spend an hour this weekend! Does anybody know if there are more of these webquests out there? Incidentally, it reminded me a little of the Monkey Island computer games, in terms of the elaborate challenges, etc. If there are more of these type of things, post them!

he open the second cryptex during his brief moment gaze fixed out the windo till he had relize the second one was apple but how could have no one ever seen that one sir issac come on

Are there any more of these webquest thingies? I loved this one

hey can somebody help me here.. what enigmatic sculpture stands one degree north of the location indicated in the code!?!?

heeeeey can somebody help meee!! whats de name of Robert´s favorite symbol!!!!!!
thank uuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Christian: thanks for answering the question about the cryptex. I wish
that Langdon would have explained this later. yes, apple is obvious.

Monica: Ankh is Langdon's favorite symbol

Adriana: I think the statue is Kryptos near the CIA headquarters. I
think I have seen this mention somewhere on the internet.

Does anyone know what "Is there no help for the widow's son" has to
with the story?

Robert´s favorite symbol: "ankh"

According the Internet Movie Data Base, there will be a movie version of
the book directed by Ron Howard in 2005. Here is the link

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0382625/

Is there no help for the widow's son has nothing to do with the da vinci code, but that is how I found out about this awesome web qust. My sister discovered the bold letters and I looked them up. What I got was the short webquest, I finished that and then did the original one. Are there any more of these? I loved it. But wouldn't it be better to give out hints rather than answers?

Kelly: Which webquest did "Is there no help for the widow's son" lead you to? Would you post the address? Thanks

well, is there no help for the widows son led me to the new webquest hold on let me get it

this webquest:
http://www.randomhouse.com/doubleday/davinci/
its the one with the questions about the statue, the seal on the book, ect. If you've already done it sorry. But if you have not, its fun.

Thanks

I am working on a project. Does any of you know what is a cesar's box and what is it used for? Please let me know. Thanks

are there any other webquests besides the two(original and new)that I know of? Please I had so much fun I can't let a good thing end.

If anyone has an answer to the question, what is a ceasar's box and why was it used, please send to

on.thego@verizon.net Thanks alot!

Jade: In one of the quests, there is a Ceasar square.
I don't know if that is the same as a Ceasar box.
There is a long string of letters that don't seem to
make sense. But if you arrange them in a square and then read the message going down, starting with the
letter in the upper left corner and then, when you
reach the bottom of the square, you continue to the
top of the next column. I think in that quest, the
square ended up spelling wwwdotrobertlangdongdotcom
or something like that.

Jade: If you look at

WTRGOWRTDTWOLOCDBANOOENDM

it seems to say nothing. But write down the first
5 letters. Then underneath those five, write the
next five. The underneath those, the next five and
so on. You get

WTRGO
WRTDT
WOLOC
DBANO
OENDM

Try this to decode this one. A touchdwon, extra point and a grand slam might help. A box is not
always a square.

INODSOROTHTWHEHSELESRPWOEFIN

DON'T TRUST ROY FIN!!

DON'T TRUST ROY FIN BECAUSE

ROY FIN IS POOR!!

Thanks to all of you who helped my quest. I have not read all of the book, but am very close. This book is so exciting! I can not wait to sahre it with my friends. I will keep you all posted of any questions that I may help you with. Thank you so much...

There used to be a TV show called "The Saint." It
starred Roger Moore as Simon Templar. If you take
the M out of Simon, what do you get?

I think many of you on this board would enjoy the
book "The Code Book" by Simon Singh published in
1999 by Doubleday. Very well written and fun, with
some interesting history thrown in.

The key to solving "La Profezia" appears in the web address window when you click to enlarge! That's all I'm going to say!

The song that begins the TV show "Joan of Arcadia"
is "What if God Was One of Us?" In the opening
credits, while it is being sung, they show a
picture of that Da Vinci drawing of the man with
his arms and legs spread, like Saunier is when he
is found dead. That is a reference to the Priory
of Sion. And the song might imply, not exactly God
being one of us, but maybe one of Jesus's
descendants is one of us today, as speculated in thenovel. And the show is about a girl who talks to God, so maybe that is the feminine side of God
coming in, again a major theme of the novel.

Maybe the makers of the show are secretly
working for the Priory of Sion.

I am on my way to open the next gate, where do I post the www.robertlangdon.com answer ? there is not any place to type it for the next gate to open ?? this is great, what an excellent book

Donna: When you are at www.robertlangdon.com, you have to click on the icon that is shaped like an
enveloped and email langdon and ask what do you do
next. You will be emailed in a few minutes and make sure you read
the entire email so you know what to do next.

Another good book is "Ex Libris" by Ross King. It is
set in 1660 and it involves codes, politics, religion and the search for Eldorado.

You type www.robertlangdon.com where you type most web addresses, up at the top

What does it mean!!!

Would it be better if I read Angels and Demons before Da Vinci Code?

Would it be better if I read Angels and Demons before I read Da Vinci Code?

Coven: I am not sure what you are asking. When you
get to www.robertlangdon.com, you have to click
on the icon in the lower right hand corner so you can
email Robert Langdon. Just ask what the next step is
and you will get an email back in a few minutes
telling you what to do. At some point in the quest
you get asked what Langdon's favorite symbol is.
It is and ankh. You can see it in his sight.

Im at the point where I've accessed the bank, and told to call fache. Do I really have to call him? I managed to break the parchment code, but where do i type it in? Asistance anyone?

if you call him, it will tell you to go to

www.doubleknightbooks.com. You enter the site,
go to employee message board and claim to be Jonas. Your
pasword will be venice.

If this book causes you to question your faith, consider the following.
The church probably did not burn 5 million women in a 300 year period.
I teach at a community college and I asked the history teachers about it.
They had never heard such a figure and certainly not scholars and midwives
being burned. Do a search on google of "The Da Vinci Code" "five million
women" and you will get links that refute this. In Newsweek, they had
a little article about what is right and wrong in the book. One example
is that the figure who is supposed to be Mary Magdalene in "The Last
Supper" is the Apostle John, according to art historians. He was the
youngest and did not have a beard. That does not make him female.

For Opus Dei's take on the book go to

http://www.opusdei.org/art.php?w=32&p=6444

Solved the Quest in 10 minutes, no exaggeration.
Firs the question for the Numbers

Its actually Map Coordinates to the Statue outside the CIA ; Kryptos

The initials for teh person are; ww

The bold letters represent a phrase. is there no help for the widows son.

The brotherhood are the , masons

And last but not least the Phrase is .
E Pluribus Unum
Its on teh 1 dollqr bill.

Drop me an email if this helped

THIS website was the most help for the quests. Gave me a crutch be thankfully I didn't go nuts in the process. Thanks to all!

Woah... I liked the hard quest... heh, I finished it in about hour. Which is pretty good considering how hard it was and my age. o.o; I'm really young... well, not a lot, but still. Anyway, that was really good. I hope he comes out with other quests. Oh, and the book is awesome! I'm not totally done, but it's really good...

I can't figure out the prophecy for the first quest...any hints on how to use the key against the parchment would be great!!

email me at bien32@yahoo.com

thanks!!!!!!

Shyeyes: I think what you are asking about is the 3 by 3 grid where
there are four letters (or numbers) in each of the 9 rectangles. The first
one has ABCD, the second one EFGH. The first rectangle is like

___|

Then when you see this one, if there is a dot in the place where
you see the letter "A" in the grid, then that is the code for A. If
you see a dot in the second place, it is a B. The center area of the
grid a completely enclosed rectanlge (I think it has QRST). If you see
an enclosed rectangle in the coded message and a dot in the third place,
it stands for S. I hope this helps and makes sense.

Okay, look at the side of the book, theres a dolphin with an anchor... no sea. look above the price scanner thing at the back, above its like a tear in the book with white. Its triangle shaped. Between the two there is a circle with numbers. its written very faintly. thats all I got so far.... theres also triangles. Has nothing to do with the dolla though.

Please Help Us. What is the name of the Langdon Symbol????

Any 'hint' would be appreciated!

Never mind!

omg u guys are asking the same questions over agian just read the damn forum and it has the questions u ask like 20 times

so just take some time to read the forum and theres all the answers

go to dancingpeeps.com!!! It's the greatest!

Someone help me out here, I am going crazy with this...This question has been asked on here a ton but I read the whole forum and no one has answered it yet...I got to the second gate and deciphered the Caesar's box and then typed www.robertlangdon.com into my explorer and then contacted langdon and got the response which led me to the auction site and I went through the whole process of going to doubleknight website, etc and then got the code and deciphered the parchment and called the number and got dan brown...great...but I am still stuck on gate 2 with the caesar's box on my screen telling me about robertlangdon.com and cannot advance anywhere past this to get to any of the free mason or e pluribus unum stuff everyone on here is talking about...am I the only one who doesn't understand what the difference is between these 2 different paths and how to advance down this one past gate #2...any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

just as an addition to my above post, I do have a screen up at langdon's website where it gives me his email addy with three gates highlighted at the top...I then email him and continue on to solve but I still am stuck somehow at this point in moving forward with the second "path" to the quest where all of these other things (kryptos, masons) are being discussed...any help

Thanks

im on the first gate of the old one.....how do i transform the text?

copy and paste the text into microsoft word and it will translate...worked for me...

it wont copy!!!!i've tried

This is the translation of the Greek:

Well done, my friend, I sense your heart is true.
You now have earned the right to your next clue:
The Mona Lisa's dwelling once housed kings.
A lavish Paris palace with three wings.
One wing is Sully... one is Richelieu.
Please name the third (I've mentioned only two)

whoever came up witht his crazy quest...thinks people really have THAT much time on their hands

Can someone please tell me what is going on here? What quest? What do you do?

OK, this is a cool game. How do I get past the Caesar Box. I got to "The Prophesy" auction bid, the seller, and even her letter that was awaiting for her. Where to next?

OK, got it. Had to call the New York City phone number....

Just so ya know (and if not already mentioned above) there are actually TWO different quests.

The original one is at
http://www.randomhouse.com/doubleday/davinci/main.html

The second quest is at
http://www.randomhouse.com/doubleday/davinci/

I have completed the first and just found out about the second one. Search my website if you get stuck on the first one, I have the answers there ..but try to do it without the cheat notes first :)

click my name to get to my website btw.. heh

Thanks demonsurfer.

Wait...you have to call that number!?

do you really have to call that number?? because i live in belgium, europe i think it will be a lot of money can someone help me?

Hanneke: I think the phone call tells you to go to

www.doubleknightbooks.com

or www.robertlangdon.com

The phone number does tell u to go to doubleknightbooks.com. The phone number is just a recorded message of a fake publishing company. I just did the quest yesterday, and called it. Luckily, I live in the USA so it wasn't international, but it was long distance. Have fun doing it. I had fun.

Can some one tell me where you are supposed to write the answer to the second question on the origina?

why won't the davinci code download?

What's the question?

i finished the quest but I cant call the number in the end since I dont live in the US. Can anyone please tell me what the message is?

i believe that there are secret messages irrelevant to the quiz under the names of Tomas L. Hilb and Angel E. Hide, i'm trying to work on what their paswords are, any ideas?

nik: the message just conragtulates you and says something like thanks for playing and that Dan Brown is working on the sequel.

I got to Robert Langdons website and then to Doubleknight books but I can't find out the word for Jonas Faukman's email. I got the city where the picture of the two of them was taken but I can't find his favorite symbol as his word to type in to continue. Help please.

What do yyou hear when you caal 12127829932?? I broke the codew all by myself
I found this site 2weeks later, but I live in the Netherlands, so I can't call the numbers!!!

I solved the prophecy as soon as i got it without knowing there are more clues (it was obvious the first word was THE and then it went smoothly until the end, and it was obvious that the last 4 were a year, because of the double symbol that could not be a vowel except a and there were no suitable words). I don't think that's allright to be able to solve it too soon, it should have contained another cryptographic element revealed later on :(

I know the answer to the last "gate" is E Plurbis Unum, but how exactly do you get that answer? I'm puzzled and I don't know how you get to that answer! Let me know!

One more thing... I'm working on the original Da Vinci Code Quest and I don't know what Jonas Faukman's "P a s s word" to see the message board is? If you know, can you email me it? thanks!

I think the pasword for Faukman is Venice

Langdon's favorite symbol is ankh

thhe answer's not "E Plurbis Unum" cuz when i put it in, the answer thing says that it's wrong.

it's E Pluribus Unum... =)

How can I Open the sixth gate of The Da Vinci code contest

Haha, have fun people. I did it in 15 minutes.

where do u go after u get the attention notice? i tried calling the number but that won't work. is there something i'm missing?

I too am curious about the possibility of unrelated secret messages in the boxes of Tomas L. Hilb and Angel Hide. Those two are anagrams of names listed in the acknowlegments of the Da Vinci Code (the first is Bill Thomas, the second is Elaine something, I think -- I don't know b/c I don't have the book here).

I have TRIED to crack the pssword for Tomas, have tried:

bthomas
bill
thomas
williamthomas
wthomas
1931
thilb (the email name for tomas)
bimini
Beniny
Ponce
Poncedeleon
deleon
youth
fountainofyouth
doubleday
doubleknight
doubleknightbooks
FalscherBücher
falscher
boss
theboss (these last two from the autoresponse I got
from the email I sent to Tomas L. Hilb)

And others ... like words related to other legends of the Fountain of Youth ... I don't recall them all.

Have any of you had any luck? I'm so curious!

If you do crack them, please be sure to post it. I would love to see what they would have in them. But since the site was designed for the quest, maybe nothings in them. Good luck!

To solve the sixth gate you have to use the key to translate the prophesy. Each letter/number is represented by the side of the box around it, with the dot in that letters position in that box. That help??

Please help!!!

I have have langdon e-mail... i found something on profezia or zurich bank... i hope one of them is the code.... BUT WHERE THE HELL DO I WRITE IT?

Please,.... i am getting really desasperate!

can someone please tell me what the initials needed for #2

stephanie: I think you have to type in "marie Denarnaud" then her account number is 1123581321, found in chapter 44

Sarah: the initials are ww

But where do i write it???

Still don't know!!!

You write Marie Denarnaud in a box that says

Enter name to gain access:

Thank you keynes!

I got it now!!!!!!

Thank you for your help.... i had not seen writing to langdon got us through gate 3

Hey! I had So much fun doing the contest. It's so amazing. What I am wondering is what the pa**words are work Tomas and Angel at doubleknight.com. Thank!

oops, heres my email if you cant contact me about the pa**words thanks again

Doubleknight Books is a division of FalscherBücher. "FalscherBücher" means "Wrong Books" in German.

Angel E. Hide is an anagram for Heide Lange who is Dan Brown's agent extraordinaire.

J Mart: Thanks for telling us about FalscherBücher, that's funny and I didn't know it.

which website did you use to find the prophecy parchment?....i used Relic-bay but then i dont know what to do next....i dont see any box that says "to gain access"...help!!??

I think you have to type "LSPDV" into a search box at relic bay like you would eBay. (not totally sure, though)

Hey Guys! I just finished both quizzes! :) Anyway here are the answers:

Da Vinchi Code 01

Questions:
1. Leonardo
2. The Last Supper

Gates:

1.Denon
2. You need to rearrange the 25 letter sequence into a 5 by 5 grid.

WTRGO
WRTDT
WOLOC
DBANO
OENDM

You get: www.robertlangdon.com

Go to that Site!

3. Send an email to questions@robertlangdon.com. You'll receive an autoresponse back:

Thank you for writing. I apologize for this automated response, but I am currently in Florence attempting to locate the key to "The Prophecy" - an encoded parchment that may have been written by Leonardo Da Vinci. I will respond to your message upon my return.

Sincerely,

Robert Langdon

Jonas,

If this is you, DON'T erase this email - I can only send it once. Something terrible has happened. I was attacked outside my hotel, and the parchment was stolen! I think the thieves intend to auction it on-line. I don't have reliable web access here, and I need your help. You must find this auction immediately and track down the parchment. Here are the two best art-related auction sites:

http://www.auctionport.com
http://www.relic-bay.com

When you search, you should definitely include the initials "LSPDV" because they are so rare. Please do everything in your power to locate the parchment soon - I must get it back. I'm getting very close to uncovering the key to the code.

- Robert

Ignore the first website, and go to relic-bay. In the input box enter LSPDV.

4. Click the banner at the bottom of the page advertising the Depository bank of Zurich. In the input box found on the left, enter Marie Denarnaud Pssword: 1123581321. From the following page you need to go to doubleknightbooks.com. Here, send an email to jfaukman@doubleknightbooks.com - which again is an autoresponder. You get the following back:

Thank you for your inquiry. I'm currently editing out of the office but I'll get back to you as soon as I return. Robert, if this is you please leave me a message on our employee message board (use my name to login). I've reset the pssword to something we both know - the name of the city where we had our photo taken together recently.

So click Enter Our Site (top left) then, employee message board and use Jonas Faukman as the login name and Venice as the pssword.

Click on message number 4, which is Jonas I've got the key which reveals this link:

http://www.robertlangdon.com/secretpage.htm.

5. ankh
6. Put this in the input box: The truth will be told in 2003

wow [please advise

who is ww?

I have never been so influenced by a book before like I have with this one. It really has inspired me to do something related to religious symbology! Dan Brown is a genius! I was sooooo surprised to find out that Robert Langdon was a real person! I honestly had no idea. I am now finally reading Angels and Demons! After a go around, if you will, with my public library! lol
~The quest is only easy if you open your mind and see what is right in front of your face!

OMG I can't believe i didn't find this site earlier, it would've helped me sooo much >.>

I finished the First test no problem in about 30 mins, but the second one was ALOT harder! I solved it in a day and a half...which is alot for me. This book (The Da Vinci Code...duh) is by far the best book I have ever read in my ENTIRE LIFE!!! Ive also read all of his other books, and i cant wait until his next one comes out...im so excited ^^;

PS- Dan Brown is a FRIGGING GENIUS

BTW, Soni, Robert isnt a real person, his website is fake. Although, i was reading Dan Brown's FAQ on his site, and one of his favorite books is by a guy named John Langdon, so i wonder if maybe Robert Langdon is named after him and somebody else... >.>

Other PS...two pplz posted here called Leah and Jade...and i know 2 pplz named that, and i dont think that theyre very common names...so im all freaked out now because Leah (the one i know) doesnt seem like the kind of person who would like this book -.-* soooo Leah, do you know someone called Mrs.Teitze? (its not me, dont worry)

blargh...--Mithril--

My Personal Philosophy: Guns don't kill people, gaping, bleeding holes in vital organs kill people.

Mithril~ thank you for setting my friend straight! She was scared to use her own name for this! lol she wouldn't listen to me! =) hee hee
i thought that it was an amazing book as well! Absolutly great! the man really did good with this one!

The quest is cool but it's got a shitty ending. Any questions you can give to me at ridebmxnick@yahoo.com

Hah, np, Soni.

BMX, I agree w/ you. All of that work for just the phone call? GHEY! Its good that hes writing a new book and all but...the quest itself wat fun. I wish i could be in his new book... *sobs*

for everyone who has problems solving #6 (second callenge -- it took me so long to find the answer.. so i hope it is helpful for you)
HERE IS THE ANSWER!!!

- you have look at the book cover (back) at faintly printed seal
- start off at 20 and write down all numbers (including the triangles)
-know take your book and go to the chapters (you start with 20, 11 and so on) and write down every first letter of the chapter
- then arrage the letters (again including the triangles) in a square (4x4) and read begin reading downwards
euun
^rsu
pi^m
lbua
--> this reveales the answer. e pluribus unum

(you can get the number of chapters also by klicking on hints and when you move you mouse over the numbers sometimes the hand cursor will appear)

good look

I'm at the 4th gate (i think). Im at the bank of Zurich but I don't know what to type in under "Enter name to gain access" I've tried Marie Denarnaud and 1123581321 but it never works! Please tell me what I need to type! thanks!

If it makes anyone feel better, for the most part, i surmised the riddles without the book. Not owning it in the first place. Thanks for playing! Later.

I finished the quest! It was awesome! can't wait for the next book.

=)

Okay, I've read thru pretty much everyone's post and I'm still stuck. I've finished the first quest, no problem, ending with clicking on Mona Lisa's eye. Now I'm on the other "web quest" one and I've gotten to the part where you call the number and Dan Brown gives you a congratulations speech. Now what? Was that it? And if so, you've gotta be kidding me! What about the "famous code by he whom Brutus slew"? Am I to ignore that page? I a$$umed there would be more? Any help is greatly appreciated!

I can't get past getting into the vault at the Zurich Bank....I get as far as reading the letter from the Captain to Denarnaud. Then I call some 212 phone number and can't go any further...Can anyone help????

You can get the answer from the letter of the captain. he gave it to the Langdon's boss. If you tried the phone number and didn't work try going to his site www.doubleknightbooks.com

After...try the same thing as you did to contact robert langdon...good luck!

dymond...obviously he's refering to Julius Caesar..Caesar invented his own codes to send his messages ..the caesarian code..click hint if you wanna know how to decipher..

what do you say in the email to langdon?

i alrredy went to www.robertlangdon.com, when im going to send an email im on gate 3, how do i go to gate4 or second part in gate 3?

Langdon will send a reply to your email then the website you have to checkout will be given.

HELP

From the fortress of Phillipe Auguste (1190) to the completeion of the "Gand Dessein" (1870), what is the landmark better known as? I know it is in the book, but I don;t recall what the landmark is or where to find it. Thank you for your help.
Jade

Please help.....

What is the landmark "Grand Dessein" better known as? I need your help to find this quest.

Send as soon as possible if anyone knows. Thank you...

When you finish the new da vinci code challenge you are asked to click on mona lisa's eye right.
Well, if you click the wrong eye, you'll get a message

"Not this righteye. The other eye"

YOU POKED THE WRONG EYE. funny eh?

Michael you are the greatest, i never would have found those numbers without you

Wait, the code on the dust jacket says widow's SON? But if that is referring to Mary Magdalane, didn't the book say she had a DAUGHTER named Sarah?

So i finally finished the da Vinci code (the one that says "the truth will be told in 2003." However, i didnt figure it out on my own and ow it is frustating me that i dont know. Please somebody explain me how one gets from the alphabet and numbers to that answer ("the truth.. 2003")

Does anyone know what the trinacria is? I believe it may be the three sided key that opened up the vault at the Zurich bank but I am not sure.

If anyone knows what it is, please write back

OH MY GOSH!!! These web quests were as great as the book I can't wait for the next book by Brown!!!

I´VE JUST DECIPHERED THE CODE ,BUT "A SPECIAL PERSON HAS RECORDED A A PRIVETE MESSAGE FOR YOU AT 1-212-782-9932" I DONT´T LIVE IN USA .DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHAT TO DO ?

i got the same question pedro... if i knew the answer i would've told you by now... anyway, can someone tell us(pedro and me) what to do? we both don't live in the states so will we call? anyway, i 'm still wondering about the e plubibus unum... how'd you guys get the answer?

ok, you go to robertlangdon.com, then click on contact, then email him, then you click on the websites that the email gives you, and it tells you that the parchment is hidden in a bank, click on the bank url, and then type in marie denardaud (the buyer) and the fibonaci sequence as her pasword... then it says to contact jonas, call the number and it says what website he's at, then you have to email him, then he emails you and tells you to leave a message on his employee board, but the pasword is a city and i haven't got that far yet...

Hi all!

I called that long-distance phone number, the one Pedro mentioned, and I got a message from that Jonas Faukman saying that if you want to contact him, you should email him and contact him through his website www.doubleknightbooks.com
So I'm at the site now and I tried emailing him but it just came back without a reply. There's also a message centre on the website with Jonas Faukman's messages. I typed in his name, it then asks for a pa$$word. I'm stuck! Help!

Janine

What city did Langdon and Faukman recently have their picture taken?

Hi Janine :The pa$$word you´re looking for is "Venice".After that go to "Jonas, I've got the key!".
You´ll understand
Pedro

Somebody please help, I don't know what the name of the symbol is on the secret website.

becky, it's the egyptian symbol of life called "ankh"
but anyone help me!! i got through code no. 1 BUT ...how can i get to code no. 2.

as pointed out in earlier posts "is there no help for the widow's son" is a plea that mason's (a brotherhood similar to the templars in da vinci code) make whenever their life is threatened. many of the founding father's were masons. the phrase may also have reference to joseph smith, the founder of the Mormon religion, who uttered the words just before he was killed by an angry mob. Mormonism has taught that Jesus was married. The mormon religion is closely related to masonry and a number of mormons work in the FBI and CIA. The Mormon religion also utilizes many of the symbols documented in the da vinci code. the 5 pointed star can be found on older mormon temples and the "V" is a symbol that Mormons understand well...in addition to an "L" which represents the masonic square or inverted "V". Some speculate that Dan Brown's next book will be about Mormons, Masons, and the FBI.

Hi! I just finished deciphering Da Vinci's prophecy and it says for me to dial this number 1-212-782-9932 Says someone has a private message for me. Can't seem call the number from my fone... does anyone know what the message is and from whom? Thanks!!

Reminds me of getting the decoder ring for all those Ovaltine labels - "Drink More Ovaltine"

Same as the others unfortunately.
I don't live in the US and therefore have no idea of the message awaiting me on the number.

Can anyone put me out of my misery please?
cheers
Craig

does anyone know of another quest like "The Da Vinci Code" ?

Has anyone read "Angels and Demons?" That is another book by Dan Brown starring Robert Langdon. I am enjoying it just as much as "Da Vinci Code."

Does anyone know how many copies "Angels & Demons" sold? It came out before "Da Vinci Code." I don't think it did especially well. But to me "Angels & Demons" was just as exciting, so why wasn't it the big blockuster? My theory is that the subject of "Da Vinci Code" was much more controversial and shocking.

What's the city robert langdon and jonas faukman took their picture together in?

Where do I click on the right Eye?
Thanks for helping!

Yowza!!! after an hour i'm finally done with that uncover the code thing... i got stuck at the statue thing... took me a while to realize that it said one degree more!!! that challenge should tide me over until i have to get back to school... i think im gonna try the other quest... thanks guys... your comments were helpful in the E pluribus unum thing.

If any of you are from outside the USA (such as me) you will need to add the international dialing code to the number that is given. its usually 00 to get out of your own country (well it is for the UK and then the number) there is a recorder message that gives you another website to visit.
At the end of the quest there is another phone number. This is a meesage from the Book author just saying "well done" - so save your pennies and don't bother ringing this one

Good luck

For the love of God, what is the name to typed in at the Bank Depository? I've tried every name and I can't get through!!!!

For the love of God, what is the name to typed in at the Bank Depository? I've tried every name and I can't get through!!!!

try the buyers name

E Pluribus Unum. Got it. But what does the line "A triangle on white is also key" mean??? I found the Dolphin and Anchor symbol on the back of the book by the faint seal, but where is the triangle on white???

life isn't fair. i figured out that all seeing eye thing on my own but i don't have a dollar bill since i dont live in the us. sucks.

the triangle on white is a triangle to the left of the Dolphine/ancor. it is right next to the barcode

The "triangle on white" refers to the bar code area on the back cover of the dust jacket.

The COdes for the Da Vinci code are: 2)ww 3)is there no help for the widows son. 4)mason. 5)e pluribus unum. (dont put periods in any of them)

What's Caesar's Code?

nevermind

there is a report/interview on cnn.com from dan brown talking about stuff he did not include in the da vinci code. if you cant find it simply enter "dan brown" into the search engine of cnn.com

Hi, we are from argentina, we where in gate 3, we started solving stuff, and then i suddenly ended, with the prophecy. Where the hell are the gates 4, 5, and 6?!?!?!?!!?

p.d.:How can anybody ask how Da Vinci was called?

Oh my god!!!!!!!! I love the da vinci code. I love the quests. Why did i discover dan brown just like a few weeks ago????? Anyone good tips for me? Like other books? About the same subject?

I figured out both challenges a couple weeks ago, but now I have another question regarding codes on the dust jacket. I read somewhere on another website that there are 4 codes hidden on the jacket, but I'm having trouble with the ones that aren't hinted at in the challenges. I already know about the latitude/longitude one that leads to one degree south of kryptos, and I also noticed the mason one on the inside flap when I first opened the book.

There seems to be another one, hinted to a little bit on the e pluribus unum question, right between the doubleday logo and the barcode. It is a circle of text, with 3 sets of numbers separated by all-seeing-eye logos. The numbers, going clockwise from the top set, are: 20 11 11 68 [eye] 1 10 11 61 15 [eye] 5 8 73 11. I am unable to figure out what this code means. Maybe it refers to Dan Brown's next novel, like the other two codes. Anyone have any idea what this refers to? I have triedto see if it's hex or ASCII code for anything, but it doesn't seem to be. If you have any ideas please let me know.

As I mentioned above, there are supposed to be 4 codes, but I can only seem to find 3. I would have thought the reverse writing on the front would be it, but that's the exact same text that's inside the rosewood box in the novel. Anyone know if there actually is another code? And if so, where?

the statue is called kryptos at the cia headquarters in langly
the secret society is the priory of sion and not the masons as someone said.I need help with the second part...anyone have the initials

HELLO EVERYBODY... I see a lot of people asking for the obvious: is there any more stuff like this??? I myself would also really like to know if there are similar quests on the www?

So, in stead of answering all the same questions over and over again (I wonder if people actually have scrolling buttons on their keyboards; would help to use them on this particular log... upwards that is...), just let us know if you've come accross other fun mind-boggling puzzles like this!

Terima kasih banyak!

Something nobody seems to be mentioning:

Hold the front of the dust jacket up to a mirror. You can then read the writing to the left of Mona Lisa's face.

I won't spoil it for you...

initials for kryptos are WW...

be sure to check out the old webquest as well. it's so much fun. i definitely spent the last hour at work doing it.

wow! i just finished the book and im hungry for more. i feel like i have to pess this book to more ppl through the world. i got really connected to the story from the begining since i really like thrillers. for the past 3 days i slept very little so i could finish the book.
i cried, i peed in my pants from excitment and i abseloutly loved the book. i wish there was DE VINCHI CODE 2.
everybody should read this book!!...

TAL.

Quote: "Hold the front of the dust jacket up to a mirror. You can then read the writing to the left of Mona Lisa's face."

Read the book and you can read the writing even better. It's the same thing as what's written inside the rosewood box in the story, as I mentioned in my post above.

Quote: "i cried, i peed in my pants from excitment and i abseloutly loved the book. i wish there was DE VINCHI CODE 2."

I love this book a lot too, although I don't think I cried or peed my pants, lol. Remember that there is a prequel to the da vinci code, called "Angels and Demons". I know it involves Robert Langdon doing something in Venice, but I haven't read it yet so I don't know any more about it. There is also another Robert Langon novel coming out in summer of 2005, involving him doing something in Washington. Also, he has written a couple other books that you might want to check out. So don't despair, there is plenty of Dan Brown to keep you busy after the Da Vinci Code!

Oh and I almost forgot, there is at least one book written about The Da Vinci Code by another author, called "breaking the Da Vinci Code" I think.

thanks alot!... haha i just have a big imagination and i intend to exadurate with discribing things, such as my exitment after reading the book. ill check out the list of books you wrote, i hope ill find them transelated to hebrew =].

tal.

wow! this was fun! but i don't live in the US so i couldn't fone...:(

if u turn the front of hte book into hte mirror, where hte mona lisa is on the cover, the really nice writing that looks like foreign calligraphy is really english backwards, and its spells osmething like "will reveal the truth to thee and keep her scatter'd family whole..." supposedly its something about the 3rd book hes writing!

For those wondering about the seal, its on the quarter

is there no help for the widow's son?

Those mentioning the backwards writing on the cover... have you not read the story? it features in the book (The DaVinci Code, not a new one!)

RE: THE BOOK JACKET CODE

I GOT that hard encryption solved, after ciphering really expertly. Do frustrating elements make it neater if nobody expects THEM?????

Have you figured the ultimate code out ?
128-10-93-85-10-128-98-112-6-6-25-126-39-1-68-78
http://www.danbrown.com/secrets/digital_fortress/ultimate_code.html

The question is whether anyone figured Digital Fortress out.

I really don't understand what Jacket is you guys talking about? it's on the cover for the Da Vinci code book or another?

& if the book is not the U.S. edition... would that be on the cover?

thx

Does anyone know what these numbers mean?

I just wanted to clear up a misconception posted by amicus. I am a Latter Day Saint (mormon), and can tell you that the religion does not boast, or believe that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene. There is freedom within the religion to suppose that Jesus and Mary were very close (aka "in love"), but not married.
It is true that Mormons work for the CIA and FBI, because anyone with the right credentials and skills can work there - mormonism has nothing to do with it.
It is also true that Mormonism is related to Masonry. Joseph Smith's brother Hyrum was a mason before Joseph had his "vision", and Joseph studied masonry. There are symbols on (almost all of) the temples that are masonic, and it is true that the symbols L, V, and - have sacred meaning to those mormon members who are deemed worthy to enter the temple (this is done by striving to live the teachings of the gospel as closely as possible, i.e. being a good person, attending church, paying 1/10 of your income as tithing, and taking care of your body - no drinking, smoking,etc.). It is also true that a ceremony in the temple when you make promisies to God (the endownment) is closely related to the endownment ceremony practiced by masons(and includes the symbols mentioned above). Joseph carried a pendant with him that had the sign of Jupiter (Zeus) on it when he was murdered (the pendant is now in a collection in Utah). And the belief (related to the pendant) that one could have a marriage that was for "time and all eternity" comes from the masonic faith.
The LDS or Mormon church does not openly discuss connections between masonry and it's faith, but it is known by anyone who has studied the history of the church, and can be found on the web.
I know this is not directly related to this forum, but I could not let misconceptions (no matter how small) about a church that I love go unanswered.

the fourth "code" that many have spoken of is located on the back of the cover of the book (Da Vinci Code). It is located in faint letters within the "tear" just above the seal containing the three eyes. It is another mirror trick. When it is reflected it reads: Only WW knows. This is also related to the new quest linked on www.danbrown.com. One question asks to enter the initials of someone. Those initials are W.W.

i cant call this number

12127829932

what's the private message?

What exactly am I supposed to say to this imaginary person when I email him?

p.s. Does anyone know how much of this book is actually fact?

This is possibly the best book I have ever read, and I read ALOT! And it has inspired me to look into the history of religions and Jesus. but, my head is still sorta spinning from the book, does any one know a good place to start my research?? feel free to email me!

As far as the phone number goes, you do not have to call it. Email Jonas and he will give you the clue (the website is at doubleknightbooks.com)

The symbol is an ankh

Famous code that brutus slew...I'll give you a clue. Brutus slew Ceasar. Look for Ceasar's code on goolge.

Okay I solved caesar's box but where I am supposted to type the answer? Am I supposted to go to the website? If so, where is the next gate? Any helpful hints you can give would be great. Thanks!!!

what's the number that was left on the floor of the museum by sauniere? I know it's jumbled version of the Fibonacci Sequence, but I don't have the book with me.

Hey everyone, I just completed both of the da Vinci quest games. It was a lot of fun, took me a few hours to do them. Thanks a lot for all your comments, they really helped me out a couple of times. If anywaone has any questions about either quest, let me know and I'll hook you up.

ahhh both very fun quests.....great book.....so much going on.

if anyone needs a special hint (nudge nudge wink wink) just email me

I just finished it!!!!!!

I need help on the quest at http://www.randomhouse.com/doubleday/davinci/-- Q# 5. If anyone needs the other four (or a hint!) e-mail me. (PS Make sure subject box is Da Vinci)

I figured out the first quest, with the 5 riddles, but the next one... with the gates...im on number 3 does the person ever respond to your emails and what exactly are you supposed to write...

the ceasars code is when you have a square number of letters like 16 or 25 and you write them down the square root of a time

here is a ceasars code i made up just now:
TSSOTHAADHICRE#SESW2IACI5
since this has 25 letters... write them down 5 at a time in a box
tssot

haadh

icre#

sesw2

iaci5

tssot
haadh
icre#
sesw2
iaci5
now read it down starting with T
answer: this is a ceasars code with # 25

if you need help with any of those 5 riddles ask me cuz i did those already but if anyones gone onto the da vinci webquest.... with the gates please e mail me

I'm doing a report on the DaVinci Codes. Could anybody help me??

The original challenge on Dan Brown's website has a page of what looks like greek (to me). The hint suggests one load the text into a word processor and the "truth shall be clear" when you change the font.
Tried that.
When i copy and paste the greek text to a word file, i get this geometric pattern, partially on the page. Changing the font changes nothing.
Has any one else had this problem?
(the solution is a five letter word)
many thanks in advance for any guidance,
c.castilloux

Try another word processor. The text is just english written in a Greek font. If you can change the font it's easy to read.

wowowowowowowowowowow!!!! i havent finished "angels & demons" (and have yet to get my hands on a copy of davincis code) yet, but check out www.johnlangdon.net/ so frickin cool! I'm in graphics too, and never even dreamed it could get THIS cool! did all the quests, and some bend your mind just enough to drive you to the edge, then you solve it. awesome! Dan Brown is one genius of a man!!!(ma rabu ma'asecha Hashem!:) g'luck everyone!!!

I finished both quests too.AMAZING!It took me a couple of hours.Google helped a lot.I nearly got all of the answer from it(except the first simple ones and the last Latin phrase.i got it hear.)THANKS and CONGRATULATIONS!But it's a pity that the game has already ended.Email me if u need any help!

I have problem with the gate quest.I went to the bank and got a phonenumber. What should I do next?

call the phone number and you will receive another clue

>When i copy and paste the greek text to a word >file, i get this geometric pattern, partially >on the page. Changing the font changes nothing.

Paste it into Notepad

I am stuck on the http://www.randomhouse.com/doubleday/davinci/robertlangdon/contact.html

It says to email Professor Langdon... I tried to but it said his email account is too full and it bounced back... what do i do? what information was i supposed to get?

donde debo escribir el codigo?? para entrar a la tercera puerta....

If you click on the envelope, that should get you back to the quest and to the next gate; it's obviously not a real email address, so don't type it in as one. Just click on the picture of the envelope.

Hope that helps/works..

Okay...ignore my last post...I see what you mean. Hmm...

if you email "robert langdon" he will reply to you via email shortly with another clue.

if you still have problems with a email response, let me know I still have it...

I hope I don't spoil this for ANYONE who still hasn't got all the answers. I just thought someone might like to know what I got...Here are what I thought the answers were to the second quest:
1. the mona lisa
2. paris
3. the priory of sion
4. kryptos
5. ww
6. is there no help for the widows son
7. masons
8. e pluribus unum

That is how far I got.

To the right of the bar code is a circle with the pyramid seen on the dolar bill and a few numbers. This muyst be the third code, after the bold letters and coordinates, except i can not figure out what they mean. If you find out please tell!
Thanks
Rachel

i heard a lot of people are beliving that this book is total truth when its not, its a novel with some facts, but does anybody know how much is real?

"This muyst be the third code, after the bold letters and coordinates" Posted by: Rachel on June 15, 2004
Rachel, are you playing the web quest game? And if so, which bold letters (there are a couple)are you referring to? It's been a while since I played so I'm not sure exactly where you're at, but the all seeing eye and the numbers is one of the codes. Write down the numbers and then check the first letter of each of those chapters...you need to be playing the web quest game for it to do you any good though (and you also need to apply Ceasar). If you still have problems just holler and I'll see what I can do for you without just "giving" you the answers.

"does anybody know how much is real?"

Posted by: Derek on June 15, 2004
Derek, There is a book out called Breaking the Davinci Code which is a kind of rebuttal to what Dan Brown suggests in this book. I'm sure no one knows for fact how much is truth, but that other book might help you decide for yourself what to believe. Personally, I've never read it...it was kinda funny to me that someone wrote a book to debate a fictional novel-if you know what I mean :-P

UM... I don't think that the code is part of the quest. I completed both quests and don't remember the numbers to the right of the BarCode being important. The ones next to the quotes, with the coordinates were, but not these. Dan Brown said that he stuck in a few extra codes in the book cover just for fun, and not for the quests. I think that this is one. I researched it and still have no idea. Help please.
Ciao Bella
Rachel

What is the answer to the second question? I've been trying for like an hour. I feel real stupid can someone help? I cant give anything but it would sure help, thanks.

Ok im doing really good with this thing but im stuck on the city that the editor and langdon took a picture in (the word to access the employee message board at doubleknight). help, i tried everything but am apparently missing something!

if you go to robert langdon's site , there's a picture on bottom with the caption "Robert Langdon and editor J. Faukman celebrating Venetian Carnivale" ;D

Jackie - "What is the answer to the second question? I've been trying for like an hour. I feel real stupid can someone help? I cant give anything but it would sure help, thanks."

Which quest are you on - the first or the second?

i figured out the digital fortress and deception point codes but i still dont know da vinci's given name... help

the picture is of dan brown and jason kaufman, dan's editor. jonas faukman is an anagram

Sorry Rachel, like I said it's been awhile since I played and I no longer have the book in front of me...i thought you were still playing one of the quests.
"da vinci's given name... help

Posted by: Ana on June 17quests."
Leonardo

i tried that but its not working...

Da Vinci's given name is Leonardo. LOL> Enjoy! The code by the bar code has nothing to do with a quest?! Someone... help!
Gracias
Rachel

hey...thanks to this site... iwas able to finish the quest (i was on the ANKH part) but i cheated (yikes) i just copy/paste the prophecy and i dont know how you guys got it (but thanks anyway) and i cant wait for the new robert langdon adventure... golly, angels and demons and da vinci code are so good...its a book that you really just cant put down... my 13 y/o niece is reading it (DVC) now and she's really enjoying it...she cant wait to finish it, she's been asking me questions and i told her to just read it...after DVC, she'll be reading A&D...

But has anyone figured out the circle of numbers next to the barcode? Please! I've searched everywhere. Anyone!?

I'm stuck in gate #4, I dont know what should I do next, can someone here help me out, just give me a hint. I already found the parchment put on auction, what should I do next, help!!!!.

I finish the quest, with some help from all of your messages guys, I also found a site which gives you all the answers to the 6 gates,

http://www.matt-thornton.net/topics.php?topic=13&subcat=86

good luck!!!

ive gotten to Doubleknights books and the message board thing... what do i do now?

Simply copying gate #1 into a word document translates the text. accidental luck!

To Dan & Angel: LOVED the Digital Fortress code at the end of the book. Noted that all the numbers fit for chapters. Then used the first word of the chapter, to make a 16 letter caesar box. It is scary to think that we are being watched, isn't it? Thanks Dan for all the info about digital surveilance in your website.

DAN BROWN we love your books, and keep challenging our minds!

Please name the third (I've mentioned only two).
What is the third king housed? o.O

"O, draconian devil" and "Oh, lame saint" were anagrams...is it not possible that the message in the dust jacket is an anagram?

You thought I was dead?

Whahahahaha, cool "Silas"!!!

where did the mona lisa once dwell?

The Mona Lisa's dwelling once housed kings.
A lavish Paris palace with three wings.
One wing is Sully... one is Richelieu.
Please name the third (I've mentioned only two).

i can't find it any where

Denon... and if u are looking for all the answers go to...
http://demon.twinflame.org/davinci.php

I just finished 2 of these very fun codes! Does anyone know of ANY other books like DVC? If so, please let me know ASAP. Thanks

A hidden joke from 'Robert Langdon';

When I was looking for the name of Robert Langdon's favorite symbol (Ankh) on his web site, I thought I would be clever and check the properties of the Jpeg of the symbol, only to find;

i dont have my copy of "The Da Vinci Code" with me and i wondered what are the numbers in the midddle of chapter 44? i am taking the other da vinci code quiz and i need the nunbers

The mona Lisa once dwelled in the Lourve...name the other wing

Heya all .. okay .. i've done the original quest, now im on the new one .. but im sooo stuck at the first codes ... the one with the quotes ... and location of sculpture ... i have no idea how to look for the codes .... and where ... helpp .. thanksss =)

I have solved the entire second quest, and am willing to help anyone who can afford it. Sophie spends cash like royalty, and I'm close to bankrupt, so anything helps.

Thanks,
Robert

There seems to be some false explanations on this, so here goes... For those on the 2nd quest:- The fifth clue refers to the circle of numbers next to barcode of the book. (The Anchor and Dolphin are on the book cover. The Triangle is the tear in the book exposing the mona lisa beneath.) Write down the first letter of the first word of the corresponding chapter numbers, and keep place-holders for the triangles. Rearrange them so you start at the 'E'. Use the caesar cipher on the 16 symbols and you'll get E PLURIBUS UNUM.

why the code of zurich banck is marie denarnaud

hey thanks for that!
im only twelve (i just read the book, my grandfather recommended it) and i live in australia. i must confess to using the hint key on most of the questions! i got stuck on the last one so thanks to bzbee!

When they say "is there no help for the widow's son?", it's this special mason secret thing, where you raise your arms in a half circle above your head, and other masons are supposed to come and help you...

that code on the side the one with degrees is a place where the state Kryptos lies. thats what it means

omg the ook is sooo good and i love the challenge i took both of them and i fnished the orignal verisonin like an hour and the other version is easier but the origianl one is way funner if anyone needs help on any of the questions just ask and i'll do my best

The Da Vinci Code Spawns A Wave of Anti-Da Vinci Books
and Parodies Like The Givenchy Code

It was fated to happen. Since the publishing of Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code a year ago and ensuing enormous success, numerous books have now hit the bookshelves in hopes of rebutting this puzzling novel’s theory, or of riding and cashing in on the popularity of the book, or simply providing a much needed stress break from the book’s shocking revelation of the Holy Grail’s real identity. You snicker but because of the novel’s brilliant mixing of some fact with a great deal of fiction, there are millions out there who have taken the book as fact and have become profoundly troubled by it.

Leading the host of anti-Da Vinci Code books are books published primarily by evangelical and Catholic publishers such as: Cracking Da Vinci Code: You’ve Read the Fiction Now Read The Facts; Decoding Da Vinci; and The Da Vinci Hoax: The Truth About Jesus, Christianity, Mary Magdalene and The Da Vinci Code. All are currently selling very well at amazon.com and bookstores around the world.

Then there’s the new wave of books that are parodying Dan Brown’s best selling novel. Due out soon are The Dali Code: A Parody by humorist Cathy Crimmins and the suitably and hilariously titled The Givenchy Code by author ER Escober.

Escober’s website, www.thegivenchycode.com, reveals that The Givenchy Code is “my humble attempt at paying homage to Mr. Dan Brown’s page-turning novel, poking benign fun at the ostensibly complex fragrance industry and ultimately, conjecturing an out-of-this-world theory of a story that the Holy Grail was indeed not a cup but a…???” ER Escober wisely leaves out whatever shocking revelation he has in store for the readers of his parody.

Indeed, what is it? Even more important, will book buyers care? With the success of “Da Vinci” which has led to millions of readers snapping up other works dealing with “The Code”, ER Escober’s book might just find itself on the bestseller list, alongside that original Dan Brown novel.

As Ana pointed out earlier, the name Jonas Faukman is an anagram for Jason Kaufman (the real editor), but so are the other two senior staffers at doubleknight. Tomas L. Hilb is an anagram for Bill Thomas and Angel E. Hide is an anagram for Heide Lange, both of whom are mentioned in the acknowledgments of the book.

Keep crackin'

Been rading the book and thought ti would be fun to check out the website. I never thought there would be more codes but the search was fun, I started it at 8:30am thismorning and had everything cracked and made the final call by 10:30am. I'm looking forward to the new book and I hope there will be more fun like this to be had with it.

what is langdons favorite symbol?

i CANT figure out the prophecy thing on the original one.. PLEASE TELL ME IT!!

what's the answer to the riddle on gate #1?

Langdon's favorite symbol is on his site... the ankh

Hi there! I've just read the DaVinci Code - it's fab! I've done the quest at dan brown's site and now I was trying to to the one that links to Robert Langdon's site and I "he" just won't answer my questions! What's wrong? How can I continue this quest?
Please help!
thanks,
Angie

Friends,

Iw ould first like to comment on how well he wrote this book. I finished the rest of his books (Angels&Demons, Digital Fortress, Deception Point). News is on Dan Brown.com Hes writing a new book. The book starts off where the Da Vinci Code left off. This shoukd come out around Summer 2005. It should be a good book. I'll be sure to read it.

ok. to tie it all together since from what i read none of you retards could. i read the book like 5 months ago, but all the codes are still pretty fresh in my mind. all of the codes on the hardback dustcover are references to brown´s next novel. there´re latitude and longitude, which point to the kryptos building in whatever city (don´t remember) in the US, and the "ïs there no help for the widow´s son" bit does refer to masonic quotations or whathaveyou. actually, many of the "codes" refer to what was somewhat explained in Angels & Demons about the Illuminati/Masonic symbology, especially on the one dollar bill (U.S). i.e. the all-seeing eyes, e pluribus unum, novus ordo seclorum, etc. so, bringing that all together, looks like we are gonna have señor langdon guiding us across the U.S. (for the love of god, keep it in the poor man´s home country, at least for once) taking us to the Kryptos building, finding some underground secret lair (speculation) and learning tons about the freemasons and more about America´s infiltration by secret societies. sounds fun! if anybody has any trouble with this article, plz forgive me. it´s about 3 in the morning as i´m writing this, and i´m getting a little delirious. so yup. any questions (if anybody even reads this, because i have no idea how old this forum piece of shit is... uh, no offense to the forum care-taker person...remember...delirious)and you can e-mail me at merlyn101987(insert little "at" sign here, because this bloody computer doesn´t seem to have one... no, it´s not above the "2")hotmail.com. so that´s it. and sorry for the retards remark. not politically correct or very nice for those who are and aren´t mentally retarded. and shut up because "mentally retarded" is politically correct. retarded means slow. or slowly. or slower. NO! i´m not goonna say mentally handicapped. shutup!. wow...i´m losing it. i wonder if anyone will read this. ever. e-mail me if you do. plz. cuz i´m insane. just kidding. goodnight

Caeser's help means that the message is actually in latin. The message is an anagram which should finally read: E Pluribus Unum

Hi there
I have finished the WebQuest in 45 minutes but I need one thing. Can anyone tell me what the special message at the end of quest says. I am not in the US and cannot call the number.

hi! ıs there anybody can say me the login name at the zurich bank ...

hey if anyone phones the number given please says me that msg too ...

As for all of you regarding the DaVinci Code quest. I have been able to hack through the Double Knight website and am working on going through Jonas' secret page hidden on Langdon's site. If you need anything answered. I'll be around

im stuck on uyo kese a smafuo rocsef ni lina M

Letters form - You seek a famous fresco in Milan

I've been trying to figure out the 3rd question in the website quest. I cant figure out what the 25 letters of Ceasars code is. Can anybodyt help?

questions@robertlangdon.com???wer do i have to ask him??there's no link??

I am stuck on the original quest. Im on gate 2.
how do i decipher the square and where do i type it? please help me.

I have searched and googled, yet i am still stuck on gate two!! Can anyone put a walkthrough of the WHOLE quest? I know it ruins the fun, but it helps when you are stuck!

Nobody in all the 12 months that this book (da Vinci code) has been out, has even mentioned where Dan Brown got his material from!!! I was actually very surprised to see Dan use the name Sauniere, and then in the web quest he uses the name Marie Denarnaud. THey were both real people and their story can be found in the following book.

The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail
Random House 1982, 1996
Michael Baigent, Richard Leigh & Henry Lincoln

http://www.freemasonrywatch.org/prioryofsion.html

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0440136482/freemasonrywatch/104-6685107-3685504

I personally beleive that Jesus did live, and die just
like the Buddha lived and died. But Jesus was just a
great teacher, like the Buddha was a great teacher. Jesus
never died (maybe fell unconcious), never rose from the
dead and never ascended to heaven - since that is
humanly impossible. Noone else has EVER risen from the
dead and come back to tell us what heaven is really
like. Read the book. I read it 22
years ago, and it changed my thinking entirely.

TERREL and FRANK. you have to read down each column. there are 25 letters right? pefect square? which would be 5. so make 5 rows with 5 letters each. then read down the first the seconde third, etc. see what it spells out.

and MIKE, go to contact. and email him there.

CESCA, that's a really good point of view. I hoped that other readers would see that you don't have to step aside your faith to understand these books. I havent read holy blood, holy grail yet. However, it's just good to get a world perspective and a challenge. I've been looking for that and brown's book has given it to me. Now I'm excited and ready to read more books like it.

I finally finished both of the quests. The first one took me about a half hour and the second one took me an hour and a half. You really have to do some research! I can help anyone if they need it.

Check out Debra Davis' new song "The Da Vinci Code" on her new album, Complete, available at the itunes store

digital fortress code:
think chapters!! :)
read digital fortress- it was wonderful!!
have yet to read the da vinci code, but i'm looking forward to it!

If you ever get really stuck and need the answers. Go to www.matt-thornton.net
He goes through each question step by step so if you're stuck on one stage it spoil the fun for the next stage!
Main problem I've found is when searching on google I keep getting links to other people who have done the riddle trying to give me the answer!

Only thing he doesn't tell you is the message at the end... Is this really a telephone number, I tried it as a URL address but that didn't work!

Great Stuff! thanx for the help! I've completed the spanish and the english version which are different. If you need help just mail me and I will respond asap.

DaVinci's given name...pffft!! For real? Well...its his first name...give you another clue... it starts with "L"

To those who are still kicking to finish the quests - all the hints and answers are given here, just read through the various posts. But getting the answers presented is not the point of a personal quest, no? After all, only those who are worthy, ... remember?

The book: From a writer's point of view, it's a nice piece of fiction - and fictious altogether. It's the writing technique and his knowledge of (most modern) readers' taste that drag you into the story and keep you turning the pages. Nothing wrong with that, if you write for a living. But it had been nice to warn (serious) readers that they are about to enter the United States of Fiction.
It's true that people like conspiracies, but this tale is hard on the border of conspiracy itself.

Cesca says reading The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail changed her thinking entirely. It did so with mine: I learned to research thoroughly rather than publishing rubbish. As for the names in DVC and its quest, that is probably supposed to be quite another code: Sauniere and Denarnaud tell us a lot about the seriousness of this business, Marie Chauvel (Sophie's mother) is most likely derived from Marie Chauvel de Chauvigny, one of the bishops of the Gnostic Apostolic Church, Leigh Teabing ... well, that's obvious (see authors of The Holy Blood above) ... and Bezu Fache, haha, good laugh.
Mr. Brown's statement the winner writes history is quite comical. Here we have one who completely rewrote history to become a winner, considering the number of copies he sold.

Can anyone please tell me what the phone message says? I live in the U.S., but I can't reach it. If you could help me, that would be great. Email me at t2zhu@yahoo.com. THANKS!

Hello everybody ..
i havent finished et i need some help, i am stuck in the gate number two...

I just finished the quest. this is awsome.
Ricardo, to find the answer for the gate 2 write the letters in vertical order (make groups of five) like this:

pinkfreud
you dont know what you are talking about they were married

does anybody know of any thing else like the two da vinci puzzles cause i loved them both and want to try another

I, like many others, have read Dan Brown’s books and really enjoyed the puzzles.
Also, like many others, I’ve taken the web quests only to become hopelessly addicted.
Failing to find any more on the internet, I decided to dip my toes in the water and try creating my own.
No links, no graphics, just some clues and a set of numbers.
I’d be interested to see what people think of it.
Oh, and it’s a first attempt so, please, be kind….

Dan.
---------------------------

Below, a list of numbers with a common theme
Identify their meaning - not as hard as it may seem.
If this presents a problem, you may wish to seek advice,
A phonebook could be useful – the first page would suffice.

Once you’ve solved this puzzle, another comes around,
But in Rome, between two famous hills, a clue will soon be found
A turning point, once one of twins, rising in the air,
Now all alone - a centrepiece residing in a square.

The nonsense word KXAHEOG may at first seem strange,
But compare it with the name above to suggest another change

We near the end of this small task; the finish is in sight,
But be warned: thinking outside the box isn’t always right.
If you follow the clues correctly and decipher the clear text,
A message will then tell you what you must do next.

15 – 1 – 16 – 1 – 5 – 1 – 24 – 1 – 11 – 25 – 4 – 10 – 8 – 11 – 16 – 16
21 –14 – 1 – 26 – 16 – 10 – 5 – 26 – 11 – 23 – 25 – 23 – 11 – 23 – 10 – 11
17 – 25 – 11 – 10 – 26 – 14 – 16 – 16 – 4 – 7 – 26 – 1 – 23 – 26 – 1 – 25

The mysteries of international phone dialing revealed: if you don't live in the US : first dial 00 1 and then the 212 etc. number!! How??
Just try this: pick up the phone and then put your index finger on the button marked 0 and push gently; repeat his once; next: (try to concentrate)! now you have to push the 1 (this number is usually in the left top corner) Now the other numbers... My God how hard can it be??
In stead of dialing 00 you can also dial + !!
maybe this is too difficult? Sorry, please contact your local phone company: they should have a laugh too. No thanks.

Angels and Demons is the exact same sequence so far. I think this is kind of dumb. They are both starting out the exact same way

I just finished it yesterday 'cause I live in Thailand.
Sooooo Great the novel is.
Anyway when I'm finished 2 puzzles, it makes me feel like finish a new novel.
I will try his other books ASAP

I must say I was puzzled by the key and the parchment and felt really stupid not being able to solve it. I came into this site to try and get some hint as to how to start deciphering the prophecy and as I read on I came across it .... was disappointed at myself for not seeing it before. Advice: LOOK HARD AT THE BOXES AND THE DOTS ... good luck! I hear there's a movie coming out - can't wait to see it.
P.S. GREAT SITE.

The answer to the three wings is DENON.

loved the books, but cant seem to understand the "ultimate code" from digital fortress. plz hlp! hey, da vincis giviven name is leonardo.

ATTENTION !!!
IF YOU ARE NOT LIVING IN THE US, YOU CAN STILL LISTEN TO THE SPECIAL MESSAGE AT THE END. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS DIAL 00 (zero, zero) BEFORE THE GIVEN PHONE NUMBER.

ENJOY

the famous fresco in milan is davinci's painting, The Last Supper

yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ........... finished the riddles ........... thanx to all of u who told me what msg comes out of dialing the last no.

ive been waiting for like 30 min i still haven't gotten the 1st email did i do something wrong

How long do I have to wait for the first email?

WOW! WHAT A BOOK AND WHAT GREAT CHALLENGES!!!!

HERE ARE SOME THINGS THAT HELPED ME:
- You need to read at least through the middle of the book, to get some clues...
- Don't be afraid to do a google search if stuck, just remember to bookmark the page you're in first.
- When prompted to email or call someone, do it! The replies and messages are a real joy. If you're calling from the UK first call 08707940870 and wait for the message. Then dial any of the given numbers, fully. For USA it's 001. It will cost you pennies.
- Once you get into the tricky mind of Messrs Brown, Langdon and Faukman, it's very easy to proceed.
- All the clues are very easy and right in front of your eyes.
- Finally, to crack the Prophecy, I had some difficulty, but, as I said, it's right there, staring at you. As easy as 1,2,3-A,B,C.

Good luck!
Have Fun!

P.S. I LOVE DAN BROWN :-)

Without wanting to insult anyone's intelligence here, after reading your posts, I'm almost bald from pulling my hair.

There are people giving solutions step-by-step (I think Deane is one of them?)and still there are people asking "What is the name of the third wing of the Louvre? I've been trying for an hour" or even "does anybody knoe Da Vinci's given name?
HELP ME PLEASE, HELP HELP??"

So for people who can't use common sense, or are toooooo lazy here it is: USE GOOGLE and type Louvre Wings, or DaVinci. Ta-dah! 2 seconds!

For the Greek text, it's quite easy:
-select the document - right-click it and press Copy - go to Word - on the font box select symbol - click Paste - select the document again - select another font like Times Roman or Arial. Someone said it converts automatically if you paste it in Word. I don't know about that, that's how I did it.

Come on people, if you want to take part in a challenge, you have to try a little bit harder.
Even if that involves reading the whole forum, where all the answers are given!!!!

Speaking of anagrams of Tomas L. Hilb and Angel E. Hide, do you also know that Jonas Faukman is an anagram of Jason Kaufman, Brown's editor?
WOW! DAN FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!

I don't have the advertise in the auction site at the bottom of the page of the Bank of Zurich. Maybe my browser properties. Can anyone tell me the web site?

BREAK THE CODE AND TYPE THE PROPHECY:

WHAT IS THE PROPHECY??????

how the hell can i answer the first e-mail. please tell me. what a game or whatsoever!!!

hey!!! I got the original web quest answered in a matter of minutes!!! Go for it people!!!!!

what is the answer to the second question on the original quest?

I'm confussed there is NO place to type the anwser for #3. Where do you type it?

-Amanda

you won't type anything. Just solve the encrypted text and go to it.
and the text must be written like this in order to read it
WTRGO
WRTDT
WOLOC
DBONO
OENDM
I think everybody can read this. All you need is a different point of "view"...

the game doesn't goes in the same window. The third gate is the last gate of that window. When you go to the next site, you can close it. cause there is no need to it.

I can't get the part of the calling right. I sent an email on jfaukman@doubleknightboos.com and nothing happened. How do I continue??

hey anyone knows the meaning of these nos printed on the last page of digital fortress?
128-10-93-85-10-128-98-112-6-6-25-126-39-1-68-78
