The phone went dead tonight for a good long while, hence the lack of a real post. Kind of a good thing, since I had some other work I needed to do and some of it actually got done.
I didn't watch American Idol. I'm not even sure who got voted through.
While I'm thinking of it, anyone watching Mr. Sterling on Friday nights? So far, I think I like it.
This emphasizes to me that Donna Weimer is completely correct. In college, you watch little to no television, but when you graduate the TV becomes your best friend. I noticed this happening to me when I first graduated. it's quite odd that I pay so much attention to television now but my computer time has not dwindled at all. So it's:
Wake up. Eat. Ride. Work. Eat. Work. Ride. Eat. TV/Computer. Sleep. Repeat.
Now that I've got a laptop with wireless, watching TV and writing code is becoming my favorite time killer.
Depressing how domestic life just sneaks up on ya. I only mention all of this because lately all we seem to talk about is television. *sigh*
Man... My first response to that was defensive: "I don't watch TV all the time, really I don't."
Typically, when I get home, I go online. There's only so much you can do from work, and blogging/web surfing usually isn't included. In college, I didn't watch much TV except for a)the semester we installed the directTV dish and b)MTV once we got it. Even then, though, my MTV watching consisted of turning the TV on, putting my back to it, and hitting the internet.
Right now, I can't say there's a show that I watch on a regular basis. I enjoy West Wing when I catch it, by chance I've caught Mr. Sterling the last few times it's been on, but for the most part I'm not a big TV watcher. I do, however, keep it on for background noise. Same with the radio. There's smoething to be said for the mixture of DJ/music/commercials as a comforting background sound.
Now video games, those are a different story. Beat Metroid last weekend and started into Star Fox Adventures last night. I enjoy a good video game as much as a good book... Oh well...
Oh, and part of why all we do is talk about TV is because most of the rest of the current events are depressing: shuttle losses, wars, etc... Who wants to talk about that stuff all the time? mindless TV makes great filler...
We should insert a car chase scene once in awhile to fill time. I hear that works well.
