Walmart the Monopoly?

Wired News: The Games Wal-Mart Doesn't Play
As far as I'm concerned, when people start saying things like "With that kind of clout, the discount retailer can exercise considerable influence over the kinds of titles that find their way into consumers' hands..." we have a problem. I don't want Wal-Mart changing a game before I even get to buy it somewhere else, yet it seems like that's what's happening. That's crap.

Wal-Mart has already forced many mom and pop stores out of business as well as many larger chains. The more I read about them, the more I'm reminded of stories about the Darth Gates and Microsoft. Maybe when our DA finishes up with MS, he should head on over to Wal-Mart and give them some crap too.

Walmart needs to be stopped. They are giving lower prices NOW at a cost of loss of jobs, etc in the FUTURE. They do not care about anything except making a buck. Been there, been done to!

What can we do to stop reverse their growth and rebuild America. Only it's not only America, it's the world!

you are right, wal-mart needs to be stopped. wal-mart and other major business venture companies are quickly putting an end to any competition that may have existed in the business market in the first place. its a fact that individual wal-mart stores will take huge hits and years of negative profits just as long as they will eventually put all other local competition out of business. they do this because they have the resources and size to do so. if this is not a monopoly then i don't know what is. the scales in the business world have tipped so far that america is quickly becoming one huge conglomerate of super businesses that is essentially unstoppable.

what can we do about it. recognize it and support your local businesses. boycott the large companies such as wal-mart as much as you can. pay the extra dollar to support the local companies you can trust. buy your cd's directly from the record label or the local cd store, often you can get them cheaper that way. sacrifice alittle convience and in the end you will be doing the economy a greater service.

besides, if you haven't realized it yet, the government isn't going to do a thing. I mean our fearless leader loves big business - in total they put him in office and even given him his very own good old boy media/news network (ahem...fox) so sitting around and waiting for wal-mart to get theirs isn't going to happen if everyone keeps supporting them

hi, walmart sucks.

Wal mart sucks!! MIcrosoft got punishd so Wal-Mart should feel the sameheat!!

ECONOMIC APARTHEIDT.
via economic terrorism.thats what this tactic is all about.it's a WAR-MART.
wiping out small stores is NOT "competition". RESHAPING TRAFFIC PATTERNS, AND BUILDING MONOPOLISTIC SHOPPING CENTERS IS NOT ABOUT "competition".
bribing city, county, and other elected official is not "competition".
making billions of dollars at the expense of lost jobs, is not "competition".
this is a predatory tactical leverage and manipulation, extortion of opportunities that violate the spirit of "monopoly laws".
it sucks and the reaction i read from around the web will eventually result in a backlash..........
boycott War-Mart.
propogating "low prices" fits nicely with A concept of "the bigger the lie you tell the more they believe it" and a propaganda campaign to fit.
it's SIMPLY A WAR-MART.
employees are treated like troops, customers like fools and suppliers like indentured slaves.

this WAR is against small stores, automatic checkout systems result in lost jobs and low priced foreign imports which mean, more lost jobs, and in the end this "scheme" will result in higher taxes, lower wages, and reduced selections.

What about the big media conglomerates they're way worse. Microsofts doesn't even compare to them. It's just software whereas some companies own every aspect of information that reaches us.
