American Idol sucks my ass. I can't believe Tamyra ended up having to leave! I mean seriously. No offense Nikki, but compared to the other contestants, your skills are a little under par. You deserved to go home, and based on the amount of crying you did, you know it, too.
My sister and I were discussing the show and she said that she thinks it would be completely different if instead of voting for your favorite, you voted for the person who you thought should leave. I have to agree. All of a sudden, Nikki has a performance where she doesn't suck. A few people vote for her that have never voted, and a bunch of people who had been voting for other contestants vote for her as well. The hackers join in and vote for her, and the next thing you know, an incredible singer has to leave the show. Tamyra has an incredible voice, in the same league as Alicia Keyes. She deserved to stay.

Most of the biggest bands that ever existed didn't have anyone that would qualify as an American Idol. Hell, most of MY idols wouldn't have had a chance. James Hetfield, nope. Kurt Cobain, nope. Don Henley, nope. Bob Marley, nope. Hell, even Elvis wouldn't have made it. 'Influential artists' doesn't always mean they have what it takes to be a Pop Star.
And ditto for 'Idols'. R.Kelly was a pop star at one point in his career, and now he's a pedophile. Christina Aguilera? Slut. Brittany Spears? Who do you want your daughter to be a slave for? Just like "Pop Stars" aren't necessarily 'Influential artists', they're also not automatically 'Idols' either.
To that I say, 'wow'. The reason it stays on the air is because it pulls in ratings. I'm not saying I agree or disagree with the validity of the show. I'm just saying it makes money; therefore, it stays on the air. Considering how many opinions you have of the show, you've obviously watched the show enough to understand the premise, the contestants, and the judges. So I think your best bet is to stop watching. The more people that hate it, and watch in disgust, the more the ratings climb. If people would step back and ignore it, it would go away. Just the The Chevy Chase Show.

PLEASE make these no talent folks prove themselves worthy by singing backup before you go offering them multi-million dollar contracts - Ruben Studdard - and then their albums are a flop ("Oh, they had bad writing...they had bad production!" Whatever!). If you can sing, you can sing. 6 million votes can't be wrong, right? I guess these "singers" aren't the only ones tone deaf and what counts as music these days ain't saying much!
